Pollination for Farms

Professional Honeybee Pollination Services Across the Western Cape

Barben Bees delivers WCBA-standard hives for optimal crop pollination. Our colonies are strong, healthy, and carefully managed to meet the demanding standards of fruit and vegetable growers

Healthy Hives. Abundant Harvests. Naturally.

Providing bees for crop pollination is a specialised service, distinct from honey production.

We focus on developing strong colonies capable of supplying the large number of foraging bees needed for effective pollen transfer.

To ensure quality and pricing consistency, we set minimum standards for colony strength, measured not by the number of hives but by the number of bees.

Each colony should have at least four brood frames, be well-covered with bees, and include a reserve of honey as a food supply.

Colonies are periodically inspected in the field to maintain optimal pollination readiness.

Where We Work

Based in Cape Town, we service farms across the Western Cape.

The number of colonies required per hectare varies based on crop attractiveness, competition from nearby nectar and pollen sources, and the proportion of flowers that must set fruit or seed for economic viability.

More colonies may be necessary when other plants compete heavily for bee activity.

Hives should be placed within or adjacent to the crop area.

For fruit pollination, ideal conditions include full sun and wind protection, with some afternoon shade later in the season.

Optimising Fruit Production Through Expert Pollination with Honeybees

Pollination is one of the most critical factors in fruit production, and honeybees are among the most efficient pollinators on earth. At Barben Bees, we provide professional pollination services using well-managed, healthy bee colonies placed directly on your farm during key flowering periods.

Whether you grow apples, pears, plums, berries, almonds, or other fruit crops, our bees can help improve fruit set, increase yields, and enhance the overall health of your orchard or field.
